General duties: Performs multi-faceted work that is necessary to build, assemble, customize, fabricate, install, inspect, test, diagnose, analyze, troubleshoot, repair, replace, and modify structural, mechanical and electrical components of commercial dump bodies, snowplows, salters and sanders.

Safe usage of hand and power tools (including, welders, plasma cutters, saws, brakes, shears, drills, sanders, files, grinders, and rivet guns)

Uses work orders, blueprints, and specifications to determine repairs or custom installation / fabrication procedures and sequence of operations.

Knowledge in the use of available lifting equipment such as overhead cranes, jib hoists, jacks, and forklifts.

Removes or cuts out defective parts, defects or damages and installs or fabricates replacements.

Cleans, strips, primes, sands, paints, cures, surfaces and materials.

Perform testing of hoist, tailgate, coal doors, swing doors, tarp system as needed.

Check and adjust hydraulic oil level and pressures per lift specifications.

Plumb lift system, dump bodies, and outriggers as required.

Maintain your personal tool inventory and tool box

Maintain Job file, costing and labor paperwork.

Communicates with other workers to fit and align heavy parts or expedite processing of repair parts. Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required (electrical, mechanical)

Must be able to accomplish full repairs, installations, modifications, with little to no assistance or supervision.

Ability to read, understand and interpret, instructions, drawings and technical plans.

Ability to adhere to garage PPE and company EHS guidelines. (Safety footwear, eye protection, noise protection and welding PPE required)
